Choreography, Performance and the Public

The City Lab ‘Choreography, Performance and the Public’ in Cairo on April 14-17 is the first of 5 Labs constituting the research phase of the Urban Heat project. The Lab is organised by D-CAF, Downtown Contemporary Arts Festival in Cairo in collaboration with the New Theatre Institute of Latvia and Homo Novus festival. 17 artists from Europe and beyond will take part in the Lab exploring choreography and performance as a strategy to engage with public space, and drawing on the relationship between arts, political practice and civil society in Egypt and beyond.

Urban Heat is a network of 13 theatre festivals in 12 countries established to support 22 artists and collectives and their engagement with urban areas and communities. The project which lasts until December 2018 includes research, creation and presentation and is supported by the Creative Europe programme.
