Art Commissioners form Kuldīga participate in a training in Budapest

This month, three representatives from Kuldīga (Latvia) Vendija Bakanauskaite, Ieva Štro un Elina Beitika participated in the first training of the International Institute of Community Commissioned Art (IICCA) which took place from September 28 to October 1 as part of the “DemArt” project at the “Bethlen” theater in Budapest. The training was led by the Institute’s external expert, the former Queens Council on the Arts’ Art Commissioning Program Manager Daniel Valtueña in collaboration with advisors. The goal of the training to build a stronger DemArt community and to empower our Art Commissioners in their role as community leaders. 

DemArt is a two-year collaborative project between BETHLEN THEATER / Pro-Progressione (HU), Art Transparent (PL), and  New Theater Institute of Latvia (LV) that aims to democratize art funding by developing an innovative participatory process for municipalities to enable community members to award commissions to selected artists.
