Theatre of Istaba | Room Theater is a professional theatre that creates performances for children, adolescents and their parents in an environment unusual for the theatre. The activity started in 2014 with the idea to create one show for children and their parents in the gallery “Istaba”. The first performance was followed by the next, then the next, then the next, becoming an independent organization that plays and creates performances, fitting into different environments – art gallery, classroom, street, museum, etc.
The core of the theater is formed by director Jānis Znotiņš and producer Alma Kušķe, attracting both working and independent actors and theater professionals to the performances. The goal of Theatre of Istaba | Room Theater is to create a theater for children and teenagers as an independent art form with its own development and industry professionals.
