Invitation to be part of the Queer Tango Club in Turku

Queer Tango Club is a research project by Katrīna Dūka, a performance, and a temporary
collective of people who come together to learn and dance the Argentine
tango. While rehearsing the dance steps, the Queer Tango Club also
envisions queer futurities and social structures that transcend current
norms and limitations related to gender, sexuality, and identity. In 2025, Queer Tango Club is also part of performing arts festival Baltic Take Over, taking place in Turku 10-12 April.
We are looking for 4 queer-identifying participants to join Queer Tango Club for a shared workshop and a showing. Meanwhile professional experience in dancing and performing is not needed, some experience in either is warmly welcomed.
– Rehearsals will take place in Contemporary Art Space Kutomo and Viinatehdas, from 7-11 April.
– We are aiming for 6 hours of being together per day (exact times we will decide upon together).
– The rehearsal process will result in a shared performance in Viinatehdas on the 12th of April at 19:30.
– There is a fee of 500 euros for each participant.
– The working language is English.
More details in the application – Application form
We are waiting for responses until 18.03 and chosen participants will be notified on 19.03.
