several theatre productions, painter. Production is based on a post
modern story about Riga in its various ages and will take place in
the Museum of the History of Riga and Navigation involving projections,
work of VJs and DJs.
The story "Mysteries and Happenings" was published
1978 in the time when postmodernism wasn't so popular. Mysteries were
little known from the history of theatre, but rarely anybody knew
what were "the happenings" - just like today. However this
genre of performing arts was practised amongst the intellectuals.
During 70s Margeris Zarins was already acknowledged sixty years old
composer, author of several opera and oratories and impressive film
music. The heroes of the story are nevertheless youngsters who in
a way are grasping to comprehend the world. Mysteries and happenings
is the individual way of the young people to discover the ageless,
universal questions of the existence. Today Margeris Zarins is called
the father or the Latvian post modernism (Guntis Berelis) and "Mysteries
and Happenings" can be judged as one of the brightest writing
examples in Latvian literature.
