Mara Kimele
(1943) has graduated from the State Drama Institute in Moscow, the
master-class of Anatoly Efross. In her performances she is experimenting
with the model of the psychological theatre. Already since 60s M.
Kimele has taken interest in the relations existing between the space
and performance (like in the production "Medea" by J. Anouilh
staged at the Simanis Church in Valmiera in 1975) trying to find possibly
authentic ways how to induce feelings.
I.Abele "Dark Deer"
Some day in a countryside farm Rasa Panemune where the deer are raised
arrives a classmate of an owner that in the past loved and still loves
owners` crazy ex-wife, butchers prepare to slaughter deer, the pregnant
wife of the owner leaves the farm, the daughter very expects her 16
birthday. And then happens something that was not expected. That is
the story of drama "Dark Deer" that explodes through one
character - the teenage daughter Ria becomes a catalyst for a tragedy
due to indecision of adults.
This staging reminds about the forgotten ability of a human to hear
the voice of the nature and themselves. M.Kimele is certain that people
have got a chance to do something - at least to spurt out of position
of a insatiable consumer and "to incorporate in a chain linking
with all that lives". The deer with horns reminding wood that
periodically regenerate is the symbol of continuity of living, palingenesis
and time. It is very hard to habituate the deer. It is possible if
they are catched when young. The human amuses himself and then forgets
or kills the deer just like other foundlings of him.
