Liepāja Dance Atelier on June 2

Liepāja Dance atelier is a residency, workshop and experiment which will take place in Liepāja concert hall Great Amber from May 28 till June 2. Six young choreographers from Latvia and Nordic countries will inhabit the building of Great Amber and work on their creative ideas in an open and collaborative process interacting with the architecture, local environment and one another. Our aim is to create a collective workspace that takes inspiration from co-habiting and co-working strategies as found in nature.

Atelier is dedicated to the creative process that is in essence different from a finished art work and contains more excess, abundance and risk. Usually hidden from the eyes of audience, it will now take the centre stage.
On Saturday 2 June at 17.00 we welcome visitors for a choreographic tour in Great Amber which will take audiences to unexpected spaces and situations.
Free entrance anytime between 17.00 and 18.00.
Audience can choose to see all or just some of the six works. Duration of works varies form 10 to 20 minutes.

Liepāja Dance atelier is made with and by choreographers Kristīne Brīniņa (Latvia), Mira Kautto (Finland), Elīna Lutce (Latvia), Klāvs Liepiņš (Iceland/Latvia), Kadri Noormets (Estonia), Rosa Omarsdottira (Iceland/Belgium) with the participation of Liepāja youngsters.
Atelier’s mentor and dramaturge is Ana Dubljevič (Serbia).

A project of the New Theatre Institute of Latvia in collaboration with Liepāja concert hall Great Amber as part of [DNA] activities in Latvia. Co-funded by the Creative Europe programme of The European Union and State Culture Capital foundation.
