Final cycle of Theatre Expanded seminars
The final seminars of the training programme Theatre Expanded for young performing arts managers will take place in Rucka Artists Residency centre in Cēsis from August 23 till 27 led by invited international curators.
On August 23 and 24 the French cultural operator Matthieu Goeury will work with the group of young professionals, focusing on the topics of artistic directing and building of the season in a contemporary arts centre, as well as look at different unconventional festival models. On August 26 and 27 the German theatre scholar and curator Florian Malzacher will talk about performative curating practice in contemporary theatre.
Florian Malzacher will start the seminar on August 26 at 10.00 with the lecture On performative curating. Participation in the lecture is open to anyone interested in the topic. The lecture will be held in English, free of charge, duration – 1h30. Address – Rucka Artist Residency centre, Piebalgas street 19, Cēsis.
Matthieu Goeury is a French arts worker based in Brussels, Belgium. He is active as a producer and curator. Working in the field of performing arts, his trajectory led him to create a workspace for emerging artists (L’L), participate to the launch of a major contemporary art museum (Centre-Pompidou-Metz) and program one of the most exciting venues in Europe (Vooruit). During the last years, he created the festivals Possible Futures, (IM)Possible Futures and Smells Like Circus. He tries to apply, with more or less success, strong ethics to the projects he develops, based on social-political engagement, solidarity, pragmatism and reasonable seriousness.
Florian Malzacher is an Artistic Director of Impulse Theater Festival (Cologne, Dusseldorf and Mulheim/Ruhr in Germany) since 2012 as well as an independent performing arts curator, dramaturge and writer. 2006 till 2012 he was co-programmer of the multidisciplinary arts festival steirischer herbst in Graz. His latest publications include amongst others “Truth is concrete. A Handbook for Artistic Strategies in Real Politics“ (Sternberg Press Berlin, 2014) and “Not Just a Mirror. Searching for the Political Theatre of Today“ (Alexander Verlag Berlin/Live Arts Development Agency London, 2015).
The participants of Theatre Expanded programme are 22 management studenets and young professionals from Latvia and Estonia: Māra Pāvula, Melānija Dubra, Anna Zagorska, Anna Sīle, Evija Sedola, Katrīna Dūka, Katrīna Daugule, Ina Ločmele, Tālivaldis Tālis Āboliņš, Ieva Cīrule, Liene Jurgelāne, Madara Enzele, Lauma Kaudzīte, Madara Sokolova, Kristīne Liniņa, Daiga Rutka, Lāsma Bērtule, Terēze Šulca, Dārta Ceriņa, Patrīcija Kolāte, Mairi Hüüdma, Grete Nellis.
